How mature is your asset management framework?

Asset Management and sustainability are key issues for almost every public and not-for-profit sector entity. But what is asset management?; and how do you know if your organisation is well placed to deal with asset related issues and they impact your community and addresses their needs?

Asset Management is much more than being able to run physical assets efficiently. In fact, it’s not really about the physical assets but more about the appropriateness of the services being delivered, the impact of them on the lifestyle of the community and what is affordable. Its about balancing what is delivered against the cost of delivery ensuring that it can be continued well into the long-term.

Before heading down the Asset Management journey, it is advisable to first undertake a self-assessment of the maturity of your Strategic Asset Management Framework based on ISO:55000 Asset Management. We recommend using the SAMF: Public Sector and its associated Excel based self-assessment tool which can be downloaded from here..
